TRADITIONAL TERRACOTTA POTTER FROM BASTAR (NATIONAL MERIT CERTIFICATE)

Ashok Chakradhari a Chhattisgarh-based potter was born in a traditional family of potters. He has a knack for experimenting with new designs. This time Ashok Chakradhari, the humble man from Kondangaon village in Bastar district has become an overnight sensation with his unique Diyas or earthen lamps that will burn for at least 24 hours. Ashok Chakradhari’s ‘magic lamps’ have generated big curiosity on-line, reviving conventional lamps that may burn constantly for twenty-four to 40 hours.

A Chhattisgarh-based potter has designed an earthen lamp that may burn for a whole day. Ashok Chakradhari, who lives in a small village named Kondagaon in Bastar District, was flooded with orders for the lamp during Diwali festival.
